Paprika app for storing recipes (no subscription fee! at least for now)

I've been using the Paprika Recipe Manager app as my main tool for collecting recipes because:

  • It's a great way to view a recipe I've found online without the ad clutter (some sites make you scroll past pages of ads before getting to the actual recipe).
  • I can view recipes in a consistent format, making it easy to refer to the recipe while cooking.
  • Offline access and archiving: Once imported, recipes are saved locally to my device. With Internet access, cross-platform syncing makes it handy to access the recipe (and grocery list) from any of my devices. I find this especially useful when shopping in the grocery store after picking the recipe at my desktop computer at home.

Lots of other features I like, but one of the most attractive for me: NO SUBSCRIPTION MODEL. I just paid once for the app. However, with the ongoing open beta for Paprika 4, I believe that while the app remains free to download, new premium features will require a subscription after the beta period is over. According to this Paprika 4 FAQ, existing users will automatically be upgraded to the new app BUT paid subscription will be optional.

I plan on sticking with Paprika 3 for now. While I totally understand the need for recurring subscription fees, they add up quickly. I'm already having to take a hard look at all my recurring subscription fees (big and small) and know I'm going to have to cull.
